The School for your child aged 3 to 6

What We Offer

Our fully qualified Montessori teachers are passionate about providing a stimulating and fun learning environment for every child at Little Birds. Each teacher's individual skills, talents and ideas bring uniqueness to our school, offering individualized learned and bespoke teaching that inspire each child to reach their full potential.

Surroundings

Our school is located in the quiet, idyllic surroundings of Geneva with a large park, playground, forest and river nearby. With this connection to nature, we cultivate a humanistic and holistic approach to education.

Key learning areas

It is important that children make their own discovery of their environment and learn with joy and confidence. Hence no learning area in the Montessori classroom exists in isolation. This allows the children to become immersed in their surroundings and thus gradually understand both concrete and abstract concepts.

Environmental awareness

Teaching Our Children to Take Care of Our Planet

Little Birds recognizes the importance of not only teaching our children to care for our planet, but helping them to build life long habits that will decrease their environmental footprint while helping to keep the world around them beautiful. Over the course of the school year, Little Birds encourages children to participate in gardening activities, go on nature walks to gather, examine and discuss what they find and become Litter Heroes. As Litter Heroes, children learn to identify debris that has been left behind by others. Under the careful supervision of Little Birds’ staff, children use hand-held litter grabber machines to pick up and place non-dangerous litter in the collection bag held by their partner. In pairs the children frequently clean up the areas they explore in the nearby park, on adult led walks around Onex or down by the river, all to the benefit of the local community and our world.

Our Story

Our founder Kimiyo, first discovered the Montessori method when experiencing first hand the challenges of selecting an early education for her daughter. Like many parents, Kimiyo wanted her daughter to learn with joy, to develop an independent mind and to have a holistic, alternative education.

Kimiyo enrolled her daughter in a Montessori school where her daughter thrived and her self-confidence expanded with each passing year. In later years, her daughter reminisced about how this was the happiest period of her schooling. This reflection encouraged Kimiyo to train as a Montessori teacher and learn the marvels of this educational method. After a decade as a Montessori teacher and seeing childrens’ confidence bloom, Kimiyo was ready to open Little Birds!

Kimiyo and her team of AMI certified Montessori teachers are always delighted to meet with parents and to explain the Montessori Method and Philosophy. Our shared mission is to accompany every child in their exploration of the carefully prepared classroom environment.
